STEM Project (Freshman Year)

In the STEM Academy, we are currently working on a Spring project to present to the Board of Education, our peers, and anyone who wants to come. I decided that I wanted to research the four different types of Lupus, and how they affect the human body. I want to do my project on Lupus because I would love to be a Doctor in the future, so there's no better way to work at my career than to start as early as possible. I started research on Lupus when my Mother informed me that one hof her best friends has the disease, and how she thought it'd be a good idea to inform everyone on what Lupus does to you. So far I know that Lupus is a disease in which your body's immune system attacks your body. I was also informed by my Mother that there are four KNOWN types of Lupus, meaning that there could be more.

There are four types of Lupus; Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, drug-induced Lupus Eruthematosus, Discoid Lupus Erythematosus, and Neonatal Lupus. Lupus can inflame joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, heart and lungs.
